Pt.1 Arrival
Well, here we are again. It could be said that we both love it here, the wee apartment we found, the view, the walks and possibly the fish and chips? 🤔
We love our life, we’re very lucky but, we do need a break now and again, a change of scenery and being by the sea seems to work for us.
I booked it a few weeks back, it is reasonably inexpensive, mainly as it is one bedroom and that suits us perfectly, that and the view.
I can sit at that window for ages.
There are always birds, often people wandering and of course, ever changing light and colours.
The drive is around 1.5 hours, through Dundee, over the Tay bridge into the Kingdom of Fife. We turn off for St. Andrews and that can be a real bottle-neck but yesterday wasn’t too bad although the streets were very busy, as ever.
We arrived at the accommodation around 3 pm, check in is after 4pm so, a stroll into town was called for. It’s Saturday, it’s July and it was pretty warm so, town was busy. We don’t usually do Summer breaks for that reason but the weekdays will be quieter 🤞
We walked the length of the seafront trying to decide what to eat. There are three fish n chip shops/cafés here, two are award winning but all were very busy so, we had a coffee at our fave wee cafe and people watched. 👍
We decided to head back, get the car unloaded then go back for a Chinese takeaway. We got the food en-route in the end and it wasn’t great but, hey ho!
Car unpacked, I went for a wander along the shoreline, my favourite pastime here.
A lovely steady walk, a decent few photos and bird sightings and some good wee natters with fellow walkers and I felt totally relaxed.
On the walk back, I noticed the sky above the harbour was full of Swifts, great to see them, we only see a few at home and always passing by.
Back in the flat, I could sit at the window and they were at eye level, might try for some photos today.
My walk follows the Fife Coastal Path and we may well do a few more sections this week.
