A few years ago now so why mention it? I opened my sock drawer this morning by accident, I’m old and not paying attention and wondered why I still have it / them.
Several years back I discovered barefoot footwear, even Five Finger for a wee while, but even when wearing my favourite Vivo Barefoot boots, I would wear socks too. At some point, especially when out on longer walks, I started feeling my toes cramped so I didn’t wear socks one day and wow!
That does change with the onset of Winter, as my toes start to feel the chill but I still often go bare foot.
I now have several pairs of barefoot shoes and after much trial and error have settled on Vivo, expensive so one pair and Merrell, also expensive but I always check the sales.
Some of them were difficult to get used to because they’re almost glove fit but once on, it almost feels like wearing nothing at all.
I can’t remember the last time I wore socks, but it was probably because it was colder outside, my feet did not like it at all, my toes felt so cramped and pull but I still have a sock drawer; it’s still full of socks because …… I’m getting older, Winter is drawing in and quickly but, when I head up into the glens and the snow starts, I know I’ll need them, especially those, thick and cozy Winter ones.
I just felt like getting that off my chest, or feet today so there you go!
Do you still wear socks, maybe tights / pantyhose? Have you tried going bare foot?
By the way, it’s a seriously dreich day today, cold and wet, that misty smirry stuff that sneaks in and soaks you.
Stay safe and well and see you all again soon.
