I think I’ll start this one with …. DoH!!!!
I was just checking through my photos for this trip and this day …… in September, I couldn’t find any for the 31st!!!!!! (think about it)
So, on that inspirational note, the 29th!
The flat we were staying has that lovely view out front, probably facing due South East ish, not great for Aurora but possibly for the sunrise.

I loved that light, the shadows of those window panes, even the slight misting of the old windows added to the atmosphere for me and when I actually looked out …

Just look at the colour of that sky over the Isle of May. (I get irked by the typo underlines for UK English spelling) 😦
It was just around 07:30, breakfast is my job, coffee and toast. That done, I was dressed and out, maybe even showered dressed and out! Depends on the temperature outside or whether I really want to get out there asap, I shower when i get back.
By 08:50 I was out and down the road for my usual morning wander.

There are times when the colours in the sky are beautiful but so subtle that photographs just don’t do it justice.
There’s a coffee wagon next to the Cellardyke open air pool, (yes, lots of people use it!)

There were a few open water swimmers sitting outside the van with their coffees etc and I noticed the reflections in the water, the darker box on the right is one of those open air sauna wagons. You can have a sauna then plunge in the sea pool, should the desire overwhelm you! 🙂
By 09:25 I was along the track scanning the rocks and fields when I spotted a few birds out on the rocks.

Golden Plover! A first for me and now that I was looking, there were a few scattered over the rocks.
Very skittish birds so I wasn’t about to try and sneak closer, I knew they’d be off before I could scramble over the rocks and pools so I had to make do with long shots.

Please remember all images can be viewed full size by click or tap 😉
There were quite a few birds out there.

I now try to get shots of birds together, they’re good for size comparison and sometimes the interaction.
The stars for me were of course the Plover.
I was really pleased with that set of shots with the sparkling sea as a backdrop, they’re pretty cropped shots.
It was a beautiful morning and there were lots of birds to photograph, getting close enough was the only real snag.
Lots of young Pied Wagtails; they usually show a yellowing around the face and paler colouration when still young, lovely wee birds.
Quite a few Meadow Pipit on the shore, the seaweed has loads of wee beasties as snacks 🙂

Reed Buntings.

Stonechat, they had youngsters too.

Rock Pipit

Every now and then a bird lets me get closer, or lands nearby long enough for a photo or two.

A female Reed Bunting did just that.
And the Yellowhammer were showing well and often.

So a couple of hours walking on the shore, a few decent images of a variety of birds aaaaaand a lifer in the Golden Plover. Not a bad morning.
Back in the flat by 11:30 and off out for the day.

It was a cracker of a day, I loved the sky and in that shot, the shadow of the jet trail through the clouds.

I spent quite a bit of my spare time in the flat at that window 🙂

Including the early evening when I could set up for another long exposure or two 🙂
See you again soon.
