When the rain came,

I thought you’d leave
‘Cause I knew how much you loved the sun
But you chose to stay, stay and keep me warm
Through the darkest nights I’ve ever known

Mandolin Wind – Songwriter: Rod Stewart.

A wonderful song from a great album, in my humble opinion – Every Picture tells a Story

Why these lyrics? I find them very meaningful and the whole song fabulous writing.

And this …

August 29th 2025 was changeable, to say the least. I saw the rain coming and ran outside with a camera to grab a few shots!!!! There are still 91 images to be edited as I type this but, what a sky, light, dark, rain, rainbows, wonderful.

Lots of countries have a saying something like “if you don’t like the weather, give it a minute” or as the great Billy Connolly once said, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes” 🙂

Please Note – The images with captions may look blurred, click on or tap on them to see beyond the caption 🙂

These two images were taken just after 3 pm, Scottish Weather actually being the first one, through the window.

I ran outside, well, walked pretty quickly and spotted a rainbow way over to the NW.

I stayed out until the rain hit me so, here we go ….

The broken rainbow and highlights on the hills and in the rain really caught my eye.

The whole sky looked amazing to me, dark patches, bright whites and the rainbow.

I was trying to zoom out and in, capture everything that was going on.

One of those sights that kept me spellbound throughout …. until I started getting wet.

I absolutely love a dark sky in sunshine but this was almost everything.

I backed off a little.

As you can now see, there was blue sky above it all!

The patches of light moving over the hillsides were beautiful.

The wider shots allowed for the range of light and rain fall patches

And that was my final shot of this beautiful sky, I’m not bothered about rain too much but, the camera is, so in I went.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a storm pass by.

      1. Hopefully it won’t get any worse than it is now – you’re already taking the beating before it even reaches the mainland. Still, I guess up here at our latitude, we can’t really complain when you see what countries further south have to endure.
