August and all that Pt. 4

August 5th saw very few photos on the patch so I’ve combined them with those from the 7th.

I’ve also decided to add my route for these walks, I wear a Garmin watch and (almost) always set it to record my walks.

I started naming the routes I walk, more for a record of where I might be seeing various birds and such-like, what you don’t see on these is the ascent / descent, I might look into adding those just for interest?

Up at the old Oak, I got a few shots on the 5th.

One of the Robins that nest nearby the Oak stood and watched me until I moved away, it obviously didn’t want me seeing the nest location. (I know it – ish)

I also noticed that there are butterflies gathering at a stump up on the Oak itself, maybe there’s resin or sap leaking there?

Speckled Wood butterflies gathered in the same place quite often, I did see the odd Red Admiral there too at various times.

I probably mentioned a few times that we get quite a lot of Dragonflies here at this time of year and the species varies but not hugely, the most common are Common Darters hence the name I guess? šŸ™‚

That one allowed me right up to it with my phone as well.

This one also allowed me to get really close, I’m sure it’s smiling at me! Maybe someone will know why they do that sometimes, it could be the hotter weather maybe? It was roasting this day.

I think the red vs green are male and females?

I liked the bokeh behind this one on a fern.

On returning to the feeding post, I found one of our Red Squirrels munching on the nuts I’d left although, not one of my regulars guessing by the speed it left!!!

And so, can you believe it? Those are all the photos I took over two days!!! It was hot, maybe that drove me home or, I was under orders? šŸ˜‰
