Dare I say it?

Spring has sprung in this wee corner of Perthshire?

My patch walk this morning was probably the liveliest for a long time with a plethora ( i love that word) of Larks going for it in the field I walk round. But, first of the year , a Chiffchaff. I saw, heard and photographed one! Other warblers may be available soon.

But first, this …

A wee Wren with a bonus lurker in the background.

Along the field a little more, I had seen a small flock of small birds drop to the ground but, I scared them up again.

A couple of male Linnet hung onto the wire to check me out and another hung out in the tree to watch me pass by.

And that’s what led my eye to the Chiffchaff 🙂

First of the year so, it must be Spring right?

Seen, photographed and Merlin ID’d 🙂

As I walked along, I have a big rock that acts as my marker to turn down into the field, I spotted a pair of Song Thrushes being tagged by a Dunnock, for some reason.

I turned down into the field, the Skylarks were singing up a storm all around me, down to the camera to transfer the clips from the night gone by and I scared up a pair of Mallard in the burn. Of course they took opposite directions but paired up again and gave me a fly by 🙂

I can’t cross the reed beds just now, there are sheep over there and they may be carrying young so, along the bottom of the field back to the road. I spotted a pair of bums high tailing it across the opposite field.

See what I did there? 😉

UP the lane towards the feeding post and it was very quite, bird wise, maybe I’m too early???? But the wild hive is open for business again!

I dropped by the feeding post but even the turnout there was quiet, hmmmmmm. Time of year you think?

I keep catching glimpses of a Sparrowhawk(s) lately.

This really is a great area for raptors. Buzzard, Red Kite, Sparrowhawk, Peregrine, Merlin (now and again) and if I’m very lucky, Hen Harrier.

Oh, and one of those!

I decided to head down through the woods to the ponds and all four are now alive with frogs / toads so the ribbet chorus was strong!

I’ll probably go back down and sit a while to get some better shots. I walked all the way back up the lane without encountering anything unusual at all, Robin, Great, Coal and Blue Tits and just before home, a pair of Long-tailed Tits. I’d seen Reed Bunting, Goldfinch and House Sparrows, with a few Yellowhammer in the hedge.

AND ……. the Sun shone the entire walk, in fact, I made up a picnic and we headed off down to the Den of Alyth for another walk around lunch time.

Here’s hoping this is the change, I feel so much better for a day with sunshine.

Stay safe and well all, see you again soon. 🙂

Thank you for dropping by, I'd really like to hear any comments my tale may have raised in your mind during your visit.
