I have been remiss!

Our garden visitors! I’ve posted nothing since June!!!!! Really?

Well, if I’m honest, discovering the new green lane on the patch has kind of distracted me a little, well, a lot to be honest, that and the Long-eared owl and a Hen Harrier sighting!

So, I was clicking through Lightroom and selected September under Garden Birds; stand by for a gratuitous display of birds outside my window πŸ™‚

We have had over 25 young Siskin outside the window using the feeders for some weeks now, almost as if the parents dropped them off at the diner and left! This young male was on the branch outside my window, it’s been great watching them mature and colour up. They’re still here now.

The Chaffinches seem to have sneaked the youngsters in, I don’t remember seeing much feeding out there but there are definitely a lot of them around the area, this young female caught on the branch outside the window.

If I have a favourite it has to be the Great Spotted Woodpeckers, young or old, fun to watch, clever and funny, they seem to shout at me if I hang around out there for too long? That second one really caught me out as it jumped onto the branch, then the window sill but didn’t stop for long.

A real surprise this month was a visit from a young Magpie! We’d get entire families of them in the garden in S. Wales but they are rare visitors indeed out here in the country, more of a town bird now, which is ok by me although I love to photograph them.

I caught a young Dunnock on the tree the other day, we seem to have a couple of them around just now, which is nice πŸ™‚

And lastly, for this totally random post πŸ™‚

A female Greenfinch!, just yesterday, they’re a bit endangered in the UK so it’s great to see any at all, I know there are a few nesting just up the road, all good.I must go back to the June folder and start editing / sorting πŸ™‚
