We’re heading out today, over to Forfar for a walk around the loch, maybe grab a few nits’n’bobs and a bite to eat so, I’m off up the lane for a wander before we go, I’ll get collected en-route.
Usual stops by the barns, round the back …. not a lot going on, no worries, on down the lane.
Loads of butterflies down by the reed beds but I was making today a no-butterflies day, I’ve been watching and photographing for a few days now. I did stand by the burn for a while, waiting for a Sedge or a shock Reed Warbler to pop up. Reed Warblers are not common up here at all sadly.
There’s a pair of Sedge Warblers below that shrub somewhere, there’s almost always one in the bush shouting and singing 🙂
I got all the way up to the old Oak without seeing much at all.
Sorry, i did say I wasn’t doing butterflies today but, well, it was a quiet bird day …. again 🙂 Until this wee beauty turned up.
A really cute, young looking Robin popped onto a branch just above me and watched me for a while.
Oh look! Butterfly!
That wee Robin hopped onto another stump on the old Oak and did a little photo-shoot for me 🙂
They have to be one of our most photogenic birds?
Time was short, the car could come over the hill at any moment! Down the hill i went….
There are currently a lot of dragonflies and damselflies in the area, Common Darters come up to the lane to bask in the sunshine so they are all around me as i walk, luckily for me, this one dropped onto a plant and smiled for the camera.
What do you think? It’s smiling isn’t it?
Uh oh! I hear the car coming, camera in its holster, Merlin off, ready for the road!
See you later folks 🙂

Often dismissed as just another common bird, the robin is – let’s be honest – always a classy little show-off. Lovely series. Have a great day, cheers – Marc.
