The Tree Line

There are two lanes that lead up to this property, one leads up a pretty steep hill if you’re walking and the other is a little more bumpy and undulating but essentially without the steep hill.

When we first drove to view the house, we soon realised we hadn’t taken the topography into account. I think we both said “it’s up a hill!” We had fallen for the location without considering the height it is at. It’s only a couple of hundred feet from sea level but that actually adds to the wonderful view that surrounds us.

Why tell you all that? Well, on both sides of us there are dips or shallow valleys and across the front view is a line of trees which run along that second lane. Next to that line is a low hill which has the remains of an Iron Age hill fort on its top; still not been up for a wander!

The other advantage to a hilltop location is the views, big open sky almost all around! I love it.

When the sky is putting on a show, or I’m just drifting around the garden with my camera, I’ll check across in that direction.

Brooding sky over the top lane

April 17th presented me with dark, foreboding skies, I love skies like that but, they don’t always translate well into images.

That big tree to the left is falling apart, big branches hanging within just waiting to drop.

I simply took 10 or so shots of this but I loved these results.

And that was my personal favourite. The Flickr algorithm that is Explore picked it up which essentially means more people get to see it than my particular group of Followed / Followers which kind of feels nice, you get a bigger response but, it is only an algorithm.

Anyway, I hope you like at least one of them too.
