Red-legged Partridge
I have mentioned that we live on a farm, in the country haven’t I? Hence we get Pheasant and Partridge in the garden, which is nice. Both species of Partridge drop in now and again and we see and hear them in the surrounding area quite often, this is not a hunted area!
As it happens, a couple dropped by earlier this month!
They are hilarious to watch, they remind me of something from a Monty Python movie when they panic.
Once again, I count myself so lucky to have birds like these right outside my window. I’ve just stood up to get shots of a pair of Pheasant grazing out there 🙂
There’s that awareness again. A little perspective below, with a Yellowhammer in the background.
Robin
Now this little bird surprised me up here, it isn’t one of the commonest birds in our garden, when we lived in an urban environment before, it was! They’re here ok, just plenty other places for them to be I guess.
I have a LOT of images of Robins but mostly out and about, they tend to drop in, grab food, gone. Maybe there’s also too much competition in the garden?

That ringed bird turned up earlier this year but has since disappeared from the garden. Hoping to see young ones visiting later in the year.
Rook
Now this was most definitely a surprise! WE have so many Corvids around here I shouldn’t be surprised maybe but, when a Rook brought a youngster to be fed I was very happy for the chance to photograph them both.
Look at that beak! It started appearing on our fence then dropping in to grab food around June if I remember correctly.
I love Corvids!
Then this happened.
For a few days we were woken by very loud begging caws from this young bird 🙂
Fingers crossed for this year again.

What a beauty…can it fly
