Now that I’ve discovered Nuthatches up in this woodland, I’m up there pretty often trying to get good shots of it / them. On my first visit I counted c6 birds coming down to feed, since then I’m pretty certain there’s only one or two. I base this on the number of visits, how quick it / return and generally keeping an eye on them when they fly back into the trees again so, not a perfect count π
On this day, December 18th, I got a lot of shots so this page will be all about the Nuthatch, I am hoping they’ll settle and nest here when the time comes.

I am trying to get the natural shot, away from any food and feeding area.

The timing of my visits can be quite important as this is a tree covered area making the light low but the sun angles in at various points in the day.

These are all in the Oak tree next to the post I use as a feeding station.

It landed on this little lichen covered stump on the side of the trunk, had an explore and checked me out.

There are times I almost break my neck as it scuttles around right above me, I’m standing on a grassy knoll right against the tree trunk.

I use a Nikon Z180 – 600mm lens and often have to back it off to get the bird centred and in focus.

Here it is feeding on the fence post.

Sorry, Nuthatch overload π
Other bird species are available.

I’ll try not to overload again, rather spread out and vary the shots I’m sharing.
Hope you enjoy, see you again soon.
