It’s November 14th 2024 and I’d been seeing Fieldfare and Redwing on the patch and knew there were a few Rowan trees down the lane that were heavily laden with berries so, I headed down there, see what I might see.
First sighting, albeit through the branches, a Fieldfare getting stuck in. We have hundreds of them around at the moment, both Redwings and Fieldfare in various flock sizes which means we also have a lot more Sparrowhawks than I’ve ever seen before!
None of them are that keen on being seen are they?

AÂ Redwing, once again hidden behind branches so, I’m standing very still and moving soooooooooo slowly ……that doesn’t really work, I need to rely on them being really hungry OR ….. get a hide.

Getting a bit better, at least I can see an entire bird now.

I liked that second shot so much ….

Not to everyone’s taste but … I’d finally found a sweet spot to stand.
I just loved this next shot.

I was seeing the Redwing now quite freely but the Fieldfares were still very elusive, until one decided to drop in.

They’re really lovely birds, both of them just really shy of humans but I think hunger was taking over here.

The numbers feeding and visible to me were increasing and they were less concerned by me, I think.

If you look at the number of blank stalks on those branches, they’ll soon have these trees stripped bare.

I was getting my fill of shots so I stepped back for a look around.

What A Cutie! Just standing there munching on an Acorn, I stand near a beautiful old Oak tree and that’s where he/she was.

Sticking its tongue out at me?
I was creeping slowly closer when it decided I was close enough and dashed further up the tree…… and sneezed!!!

Now I may be assuming here but, a male? 😉

Anyway, a love affair with this spot had begun.
